Thursday works: 12 graded-stakes winners are on the tab

Graded-stakes winners who worked Thursday included Bay Storm, who had her first drill since she finished sixth in the Grade 2 Franklin in October.

The 6-year-old Kantharos mare went four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Santa Anita, 22nd fastest of 27 at the distance.

Trained by Jonathan Thomas, Bay Storm had two stakes victories before the Bay Storm, winning by a neck in both the Ladies Turf Sprint (G2) and the Kentucky Downs Preview Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes.

Bay Storm was one of 12 graded-stakes winners with published works across the U.S. on Thursday.

Queen Goddess (Empire Maker), a Grade 1 winner (2021 American Oaks), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the 21st fastest of 27 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed ninth in the Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf Invitational (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 27 for trainer Michael McCarthy.

Bay Storm (Kantharos), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Ladies Turf Sprint), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the 22nd fastest of 27 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed sixth in the Franklin (G2) going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 15 for trainer Jonathan Thomas.

Taxed (Collected), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Black-Eyed Susan), worked four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Oaklawn on Thursday morning. It was the 56th fastest of 77 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Oaklawn. In her last start she placed third in the Seneca Overnight going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 23 for trainer Randy Morse.

Mr. Wireless (Dialed In), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2021 West Virginia Derby, 2021 Indiana Derby), worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Fair Grounds on Thursday morning. It was the 16th fastest of 27 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed third in the Lake Ouachita going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on May 5 for trainer Bret Calhoun.

Comanche Country (Highland Reel), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Surfer Girl), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Los Alamitos on Thursday morning. It was the 18th fastest of 20 works at the distance. Her previous work was 18 days ago going five furlongs at Los Alamitos. In her last start she placed 11th in the San Clemente (G2) going one mile on the turf at Del Mar on July 22 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Dancing Buck (War Dancer), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Belmont Turf Sprint), worked four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the 24th fastest of 27 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita.
