Thursday tab: Endorsed is back at work for Maker

Endorsed, winner of two graded stakes to start the year but on a break after two subsequent losses, is back on the work tab for trainer Mike Maker.

The 7-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro went five furlongs in 1:00.8 at Churchill Training Center on Thursday morning.

Endorsed started the year by winning the Grade 3 Fred W. Hooper and the Gulfstream Park Mile (G2). Then, he was eighth in the Churchill Downs (G1) and ninth in the Steve Sexton Mile (G3) on May 29, his most recent start.

He resumed working at Churchill Training in September.

Endorsed was one of 11 graded-stakes winners with published works in the U.S. on Thursday.

Atone (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational), worked five furlongs in 1:00.4 at Churchill Training on Thursday morning. It was the second fastest of eight works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed eighth in the Turf Mile (G1) going one mile on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 7 for trainer Mike Maker.

Henley's Joy (Kitten's Joy), a Grade 1 winner (2019 Belmont Derby Invitational), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Churchill Training on Thursday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 17 works at the distance. His previous work was 18 days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic at Woodbine on Oct. 8 for trainer Mike Maker.

His previous work was seven days ago going two furlongs at Los Alamitos. In his last start he won the San Marcos (G3) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Feb. 5 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Xigera (Nyquist), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Mother Goose), worked four furlongs in 47.8 seconds at Churchill Downs on Thursday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 46 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Mother Goose (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 28 for trainer Philip Bauer.

Boppy O (Bolt d'Oro), a Grade 3 winner (2022 With Anticipation), worked five furlongs in 1:02.2 at Palm Meadows on Thursday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. His previous work was 11 days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed 11th in the Belmont Derby Invitational (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Belmont Park on July 8 for trainer Mark Casse.

Dancing Buck (War Dancer), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Belmont Turf Sprint), worked five furlongs in 1:03.6 at Belmont Park on Thursday morning. It was the fourth fastest of six works at the distance. Her previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she won the Glen Cove going six furlongs on the turf at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 19 for trainer Kelsey Danner.

Freeport Joe (English Channel), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Berkeley Handicap), worked six furlongs in 1:13.6 at Golden Gate Fields on Thursday morning. It was the only work at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going five furlongs at Golden Gate Fields. In his last start he won an allowance race going 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic at Golden Gate Fields on Jan. 15 for trainer Gloria Haley.

Masqueparade (Upstart), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Ohio Derby), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Churchill Downs on Thursday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 46 works at the distance. Zoffarelli (Zoffany), a Grade 3 winner (2021 La Jolla Handicap), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the sixth fastest of nine works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Santa Anita on Oct. 29 for trainer Jeff Mullins.
