Thursday Night Racing at Hollywood Park
It Tiz, a winner in her turf debut against older rivals on June 4, is among eight 3-year-old fillies scheduled to compete in the $60,000 Le Cle Stakes Thursday night at Hollywood Park.
At the conclusion of the special evening program – post time 7:05 p.m. – a concert starring Devo will begin – approximately 10:30 p.m. – at the North Park Lawn.
General admission is $8 before 9 p.m. and $15 after 9 p.m. There is also $3 beer until 9 p.m. and hot dogs are $2. General parking is free.
Owned by Allen and Susan Branch and trained by Mark Glatt, It Tiz, a daughter of Tiznow and the Woodman mare Star Of The Woods, won an optional claimer by a half-length on June 4.
The victory was the third in seven starts for the $170,000 yearling purchase and boosted her earnings to $156,315. David Flores will again ride in the race at one mile.
Exiting four consecutive Grade 1’s, Crisp will make her first start on grass for owner Michael Talla and trainer John Sadler.
A daughter of El Corredor and the Sir Cat mare Cat’s Fair, Crisp, who upset Blind Luck in the Santa Anita Oaks in her second Grade 1 appearance, will be making her initial start since finishing eighth in the Acorn on June 5 at Belmont Park.
Joel Rosario has the mount on Crisp, who has earned $258,821 while winning three of seven. She will carry top weight of 123 pounds.
Glory Pride and I’mneverwrong are the only two entrants that have multiple wins on turf.
Trained by Ron McAnally for the Craig Family Trust, Glory Pride has won twice in five grass starts. The Candy Ride filly out of the Danzig mare Pride N Glory has been idle since winning an optional claimer by a neck on March 19 at Santa Anita.
She is 1-for-1 on the Hollywood Park turf, having defeated maidens by a nose last Nov. 25. Overall, she is 2-for-6 with a bankroll of $65,000.
Owned by Forging Oaks Farm and trained by Jim Cassidy, I’mneverwrong has won twice in 10 tries while earning $76,781. Her victories came in succession earlier in the year at Santa Anita.
Completing the field are Crisis Of Spirit, fourth in the Railbird Stakes on May 9, Got An Itch, third in the Manhattan Beach Stakes at six furlongs on turf on May 30, Washington Bridge, who was fourth in the Manhattan Beach and Nicole H, who will be making her first appearance on turf after a maiden win over Cushion Track on June 5.
The race is named in honor of Le Cle, a multiple stakes winner who raced for Mrs. Howard B. Keck and was trained by Charlie Whittingham. Among her victories were stakes successes at Hollywood Park in the Princess and Honeymoon (1972) and the Beverly Hills Handicap (1973).
