A pair of Bob Baffert 2-year-olds took the spotlight last weekend, as Cave Rock won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and Speed Boat Beach won a Del Mar maiden special weight both with impressive speed figures.

Cave Rock earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 105, according to Daily Racing Form, and Speed Boat Beach got a 98. In his Aug. 13 debut win at Del Mar, Cave Rock got a 101 Beyer, giving the pair the highest Beyers for 2-year-olds this year.

In the Del Mar Futurity, Cave Rock and Juan Hernandez won at seven furlongs in 1:20.99. And in his debut, Speed Boat Beach and Flavien Prat set a track record by going five furlongs in 1:01.86.

The highest Brisnet Speed Rating of the week went to Next, winner of the black-type Cape Henlopen Stakes at Delaware Park. Luan Machado covered the 1 1/2 miles in 2:30.25, setting a track record.

The highest TimeformUS Speed Rating of the week, 129, was earned by Emaraaty, winner of the Bernard Baruch (G3) at Saratoga on Labor Day. Prat won the 1 1/16-mile turf race in 1:41.36.
