In the Grade 3 Monmouth Cup on Saturday, Highly Motivated set a Monmouth Park record, covering 1 1/8 miles in 1:46.53. He topped the mark left by Spend A Buck, who won the 1985 Monmouth Handicap (G1) in 1:46 4/5.

Four races later, Cyberknife broke it again, going the distance in 1:46.24 in the Haskell (G1).

So, yes, it was a fast track on the Jersey Shore this weekend. Craig Milkowski of TimeformUS noted in a Saturday Twitter post, "Monmouth was rated a pretty rare 10 on the Track Speed scale today, which goes from 1 to 10. Saratoga was a 5 by comparison."

One interesting note is that Heywoods Beach got the highest Brisnet Speed Rating among the weekend's stakes runners, at 106, but only a 91 Beyer.

For this weekend's stakes runners, here are Beyer figures from Daily Racing Form, Brisnet Speed Ratings and TimeformUS Speed Figures, as provided by Craig Milkowski.
