Tap Dance Fever earned the highest Brisnet Speed Rating, 97, among stakes winners last weekend for her victory in the Wayward Lass at Tampa Bay Downs.

With Jose Ferrer riding, the 5-year-old daughter of Tapiture covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.09. She also earned an 89 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form.

Ginobili registered the co-highest Beyer, 89, among weekend stakes winners, for his win in the Fifth Season at Oaklawn. Ricardo Santana Jr. guided the 6-year-old son of Munnings to a four-length victory in the one-mile race, for which he also earned a 96 Brisnet rating.

But the horses who generated the most buzz over the weekend are two Kentucky Derby 2023 contenders: Brad Cox's Verifying and Bob Baffert's Hejazi.

Verifying rolled to a 5 1/4-length win in an Oaklawn optional-claiming allowance race at one mile with Martin Garcia aboard, earning a 97 Beyer and a 95 Brisnet.

Hejazi, the $3.55 million colt who was 0-for-3 as a 2-year-old, led at every call in a Santa Anita maiden special weight, scoring a 1 1/4-length win with Mike Smith riding and picking up a 97 Beyer and 98 Brisnet.

Because of Baffert's suspension by Churchill Downs, Hejazi would have to be transferred to another trainer to gain Kentucky Derby qualifying points.

Here are the figures for last week's stakes winners, ranked by Brisnet Speed Ratings, with Beyer Speed Figures from Daily Racing Form.
