These are last week's 20 fastest stakes winners
Goodnight Olive got more attention for her win Saturday in the Grade 2 Bed o’ Roses, but she was bested in weekend speed ratings by Catnip for his win in the Monmouth (G3).
With Irad Ortiz Jr. riding, Goodnight Olive battled to win by a neck over Wicked Halo in the seven-furlong Bed o’ Roses at Belmont Park. The victory came after a third-place finish in the Derby City Distaff (G1), which broke a seven-race win streak.
In the Monmouth, Joel Rosario and Catnip also came up late to win the 1 1/8-mile turf race by a half-length. The 4-year-old gelding won his third in a row and picked up his first stakes victory for trainer Michael Stidham.
Goodnight Olive's 99 Brisnet Speed Rating tied with Catnip for the highest among weekend stakes winners, but her 97 Beyer Speed Figure, from Daily Racing Form, was second to Catnip's 98 Beyer. And in TimeformUS Speed Figures, Catnip had a 123 compared with 121 for Goodnight Olive.
