Ireland’s Iridessa added another Grade 1 win to her already glowing resume when she held off a stubborn Vasilika to win the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf by a neck on Saturday at Santa Anita. Her effort earned her a 112-speed figure, placing her atop this week’s Brisnet Speed Rating chart for fastest winners.
Right behind Iridessa in second is Vino Rosso, whose brilliant Breeders’ Cup Classic victory earned a 111 in his career finale. Blue Prize and Mitole, winners of the Breeders’ Cup Distaff and Breeders’ Cup Sprint, respectively, both earned 108s, while Empressof the Nile, winner of the Zagora Stakes at Aqueduct, notched a 106 to lead non-Breeders' Cup runners.
There were several other efforts that earned triple-digit Brisnet ratings in an obviously strong weekend, including Independence Hall, a breakout 2-year-old winner of Sunday's Nashua Stakes at Aqueduct.
