The Queens M G, who suffered a knee injury Saturday at Gulfstream Park, will undergo a career-ending operation according to a social-media post from his lead owner.

“The Queen is headed for knee surgery and is now retired from racing,” C2 Racing Stable said Saturday night on X. “Thank you for everything you gave on the track.”

Ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., The Queens M G was pulled up as she approached the quarter pole in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks. She was racing in fourth place before Ortiz tapped the brakes. She “later left the track in an equine ambulance,” according to the Equibase race chart.

“The Queens M G is doing well,” according to the post from C2, which is the business name for Clint and Mark Cornett. “Thank you to the Gulfstream Park staff, (trainer) Saffie Joseph Jr. (and assistant trainer) Sabine Langvad for taking care of our girl.”

“She got lots of peppermints, carrots and scratches,” Langvad said in her own X post. “Safe travels, sweet girl, a true Queen indeed.”

The Queens M G is a 3-year-old Thousand Words filly whose two graded-stakes wins came in the 2024 Adirondack (G3) and this month’s Davona Dale (G2). She famously scored a 44-1 upset in the Schuylerville on opening day last summer at Saratoga.

Bought as for $3,500 as hip 1264 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall 2023 yearling sale, The Queens M G finished with a record of 9: 4-0-2 and $424,980 in earnings for C2 and Mathis Stable.
