The Horse Capper: Enticed stands out in Gotham Stakes

David Levitch — a former University of Louisville basketball player now authoring his own sheets at TheHorseCapper.com — delves into the March madness that is the 2018 Kentucky Derby trail.

Free Drop Billy is set as the morning line favorite in a rather competitive edition of the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes, with the 2018 Kentucky Derby trail stop set for 5:42 p.m. ET Saturday at Aqueduct.

The question is, at how low of a price do you want to take on him in a deep race?

Firenze Fire is a horse that gets no respect but always shows up. This Grade 1 winner will love the cutback to the mile.

But I think Enticed is the horse to really focus on in the Gotham. He was soundly beaten in Gulfstream Park’s Grade 2 Holy Bull in late January, but he was on the rail the whole race and in tight that day. Never really looked comfortable in the race.

Enticed gets his regular rider, Junior Alvarado, back aboard Saturday and breaks from a beneficial outside post. He should sit a good trip behind the speed, and the mile distance suits the previous graded stakes winner. I’m hoping Enticed sticks at the 7-2 morning line price.

My plays: Win bet on #9 Enticed, Exacta box 1,5,9
