The Best Kentucky Derby Future Odds - Where to Bet
{{monthName}} {{day}}, {{year}} {{hour12}}:{{minuteTwoDigit}}{{dayPeriod}}
This week, with the first round of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager out, is one of the best times to shop odds on the future wager.
Horse Racing Nation has compiled the best odds available in Las Vegas from Wynn Las Vegas and Bet at Lucky's (Lucky's is available in 13 locations around Nevada) for comparison against the Kentucky Derby Future Wager morning line.
There are a couple things to look for here that can help you in your wagering, especially if you are going to dive in on one of the 23 horses in the Future Wager, which is fun, convenient, and doesn't involve a flight, flight or a call to a buddy in Las Vegas.
What price is my horse in Las Vegas?
Some of the future wager horses have a low morning line, but not the same respect in Las Vegas. This could be a case where the Future Wager guys added a horse that didn't need to be added, or the morning line maker way overestimated a horse's popularity (and sometimes chances, too).
A good example of this is the solid runner J P's Gusto. He's 20-1 morning line, but with much less interest in Las Vegas, he's 50-1 and 40-1. Many experts view J P's Gusto as a nice runner at shorter distances that is not likely to excel as the distances get longer.
Other examples include Comma To The Top, Decisive Moment and Indian Winter. Another runner, Tiz Blessed is 30-1 on the morning line but 75-1 or better in Las Vegas. In the case of Tiz Blessed, he has some potential, but probably hasn't done enough to warrant the 30-1 morning line which isn't probably an accurate assessment of where he will end up on Sunday.

What do I get with the field?
Probably the toughest question people ask is what good horses are available out there in the field. The table below should reveal that there are more than a couple dozen horses with some respect in Las Vegas that will be included in the Future Wager field for Pool 1. Yes, you only get 5-2 odds (or maybe less), but the fact that you get dozens of chances certainly makes up for it - at least mathematically, it does.
The tough question in this year's Future Wager will be: Do you go with or against Uncle Mo?
