Thanksgiving Day Dining Available at Del Mar

Del Mar’s first racing card on Thanksgiving Day will have a special extra attached to it for those who’d like to enhance their Thoroughbred action with some fine holiday dining in the track’s exclusive Turf Club.

 

The track will present an eight-race program on Thanksgiving starting with a first post at 11 a.m. In conjunction with it, fans can choose either a brunch or full dinner in the fourth-floor Turf Club that provides them a deluxe meal with libations and a view-friendly Turf Club table for the day.

 

The Thanksgiving dining package, which costs $100 per person, provides Turf Club admission and table, along with a choice of a full brunch or dinner (see menu below), as well as bottomless mimosas or champagne, using the track’s elegant Chandon brand. The meals have been specially selected – and will be prepared – by the track’s executive chef Barry Schneider. They include, naturally enough, an option for turkey with the trimmings.

 

Those wishing to do Thanksgiving Day dining in the Turf Club can make reservations on-line ( dmtc.com ) or by calling the track’s Turf Club offices (Thursday through Sunday) at (858) 792-4266.

 

Proper Turf Club attire is part of the package. Those dress regulations require that men wear suit jackets or sport coats and ladies wear dresses, skirts or pant suits. Jeans or T-shirts are not allowed.

 

The track has experimented with Sunday brunches in the Turf Club (“Bing, Bubbles and Brunch”) during the current fall meet and it has proven very popular. That success encouraged management to try the special Thanksgiving package.
