Ten Fillies Expected to Enter Black-Eyed Susan Stakes

Led by Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up Land Over Sea, a group of 10 3-year-old fillies is expected to comprise the field for the 92nd running of the $250,000 Black-Eyed Susan (G2) May 20.
Reddam Racing’s Land Over Sea is trained by Doug O’Neill and ridden by Mario Gutierrez – the same connections as Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Nyquist. She has finished first or second in all four starts this year, including a win in the Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) March 26.
A P Majetstic earned a fees-paid trip to the Black-Eyed Susan by virtue of a victory via disqualification of her stablemate, In the Navy Now, in the Weber City Miss Stakes April 9 at Laurel Park. It will be the graded stakes debut for A P Majetstic, trained by Laurel and Fair Hills, Md.-based Mike Trombetta.
Also targeting the Black-Eyed Susan are C R K Stable’s She’s a Warrior, third in the Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and Las Virgenes (G2) at Santa Anita this year; Kinsley Kisses, most recently third in the Beaumont (G3) April 17 at Keeneland; Grade 3-placed Flora Dora; recent Oaklawn Park allowance winner Cced from Hall of Fame-elect trainer Steve Asmussen; Rachel Alexandra (G2) runner-up Midnight On Onconee; Double Entendre, fifth in the Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) April 2 making just her third lifetime start; and maiden winners Downdraft and Mom’s On Strike.
