Temple’s Door, the lone 3-year-old in the field, won for the second time in as many starts, capturing the $52,400 feature Thursday at Hollywood Park.

The even-money favorite in the optional claimer, the son of Leroidesanimaux and the Halling mare Chetak tracked the pace while saving ground, angled out for room at the top of the stretch and went on to prevail by 1 ¾ lengths.

Ridden by Chantal Sutherland, Temple’s Door completed the 1 ¼ miles on turf in 2:01.25. A winner against $50,000 maidens in his career debut March 31 at Santa Anita, Temple’s Door increased his earnings to $49,800 for owner Ingrid E. Truman and trainer Carla Gaines.

Temple’s Door paid $4, $2.60 and $2.60. Porfido, the 3-1 second choice and pacesetter, returned $3.20 and $2.60. The show price on 12-1 outsider Victorian Prince was $4.20.

Completing the order of finish were Foolish Comment, Balboa Bay and Ducane.

Although he had to settle for second aboard Porfido, who has now lost 19 in a row, jockey Joe Talamo did have three victories Thursday. Talamo won the second with Twodollarstowin, the fifth with Luckarack and the sixth on Full Deputy. The last win for Porfido, a 9-year-old Chilean bred, came by three lengths in an optional claimer Jan. 18, 2008 at Santa Anita.

There was a single perfect ticket in the Pick 6. The return was $52,716.40.
