Ted Noffey dam Streak of Luck sells for $6.2 million
The Fasig-Tipton November Sale, held Monday at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Ky., posted sales of more than $100 million for the fourth time in the last five years.
Amo Racing went to $6.2 million to secure the sale-topping Streak of Luck from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for Aaron & Marie Jones. Streak of Luck is the dam of this year’s undefeated Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner and presumptive Eclipse Champion 2-year-old male Ted Noffey. A multiple graded-stakes-placed, stakes-winning daughter of Old Fashioned, Streak of Luck was offered in foal to successful young sire Not This Time.
“We’re overall very pleased with the results of the November sale,” Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning said. “The market was very good but also still rational, with tremendous support from international buyers. It’s obviously very rewarding to see a horse that came in late and got a significant update top the sale.”
This year’s Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Shisospicy was the evening’s second-highest price and top racing-broodmare prospect, sold for $5.2 million to Morplay Racing from the consignment of Gainesway, agent. Shisospicy is the only 3-year-old filly to win the Turf Sprint, and her 2 1/2-length winning margin is the best in the championship test’s history. A daughter of champion sprinter Mitole, Shisospicy is a three-time graded-stakes winner this year with earnings of more than $2 million.
Reigning broodmare of the year Puca sold for $5 million to Raging Torrent Syndicate from the consignment of ELiTE, agent. Puca is the dam of three consecutive Grade 1 winning colts, 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage, 2024 Belmont Stakes winner Dornoch and 2025 Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza. She has a yearling colt by Good Magic and produced a filly by the same sire this year, both full siblings to classic winner Mage.
2023 Eclipse champion 2-year-old filly Just F Y I sold for $4.5 million to Katsumi Yoshida from the consignment of Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa, agent. An undefeated multiple Grade 1 stakes winner at 2, Just F Y I was offered carrying her first foal by six-time champion sire Into Mischief.
Twenty-seven fillies and mares sold for $1 million or more, compared with 26 last year. These included 16 sold for $2 million or more, up from nine in 2024, and seven for $3 million or more, compared to four in 2024.
A filly by Justify topped the selection of weanlings who opened the sale when sold for $800,000 to Hugo Lascelles, agent, from the consignment of Gainesway, agent. Bred in Kentucky by Payson Stud, the chestnut filly is out of the winning More Than Ready mare Summer Sweet, whose three winners include three-time Grade 1 winner She Feels Pretty (Karakontie). Lascelles went to $3 million to secure Summer Sweet (hip 161) later in the session from the same consignor.
“We took a big slice out of the weanlings in terms of the numbers from this year to last year,” Browning said. “That was primarily by design. I think the market reacted very positively overall.”
Overall, 138 horses sold for $102,027,000, up 5.8% from when 178 sold for $96,423,500 last year. The gross was the second highest in sale history, second only to the 2021 renewal. The average rose 36.5% to $739,326 from $541,705 in 2024. The average was the second highest in the sale’s history, behind the record set in 2008. The median was $300,000, tied for third highest in sale history and up 20% from $250,000 last year. The reserve-not-attained rate fell to 22.5%.
