Taylor Rice wins 4 at the Big A

Apprentice jockey Taylor Rice, who is riding her first winter in New York, won four races on Monday at Aqueduct Racetrack.

It was the first time Rice, a 25-year-old niece of trainer Linda Rice, had won four races on a single card in her career.

"It's awesome. Nothing is better. God is good," said Taylor Rice of her big day.

Rice won with two of her first three mounts on the card, taking race 2 with Julesco ($9.70), finishing fifth in race 3, and reporting home a winner in race 4 aboard Jewel in the Sky ($7.20).

After finishing fourth in race 6 and fifth in race 7, Rice swept the late Double by guiding Abra ($2.90) to victory in race 8 and Executive Office in race 9 ($10.60). Both Abra and Executive Office are trained by Linda Rice.

"[Linda and I] had talked about a few things to fix [with Executive Office] from his last couple of races," said Rice. "He did it all perfectly and ran his race."

Rice, a graduate of Florida State University, began her riding career in August at Presque Isle Downs and rode briefly at Belmont Park in October before she brought her tack to Hawthorne Racecourse where she finished the meet third in the riding standings with 41 wins. She's currently tied for eighth in the Aqueduct inner track standings with 12 victories.
