Tashop, a chestnut colt by Tapit, set a Maryland record for a Thoroughbred sold at public auction when he brought $850,000 May 18 early during the first session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training.
Prior to the auction, Tashop breezed an eighth of a mile in :10 1/5, tying seven other horses for the fastest work at the distance.
