Tamarando Headlines full field Spiral
Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Williams’s Tamarando leads the Horseshoe Casino Spiral Stakes (G3) morning line at 3-1, and Michael Tabor’s undefeated filly Sloane Square holds the distinction for the Pure Romance Bourbonette Oaks (G3), also at 3-1.
Odds were set by Turfway oddsmaker Bret Battaglia. Entries were drawn Wednesday at Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati.
Tamarando is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, who won the Spiral Stakes in 1998 with Event of the Year and in 2000 with Globalize. Russell Baze, who rode Event of the Year to victory, will ride Tamarando on Saturday.
Sloane Square is trained by Todd Pletcher, the Eclipse Award winner as North America’s outstanding trainer four consecutive years starting in 2004 and again in 2010 and 2013. Pletcher has won the Bourbonette Oaks the past two years, sending out In Lingerie in 2012 and Silsita in 2013. Both winners were ridden by John Velazquez, who returns this year to ride Sloane Square.
