Bruce Tallisman’s Take Charge Paula tops the $50,000 White Clay Creek Stakes at Delaware Park this Wednesday. The five and half furlong affair for 2-year-olds fillies has attracted a field of nine.

In her only career outing, the Kentucky-bred trained by Kelly J. Breen posted a 4 1/4-length triumph in a five furlong maiden at Monmouth Park on July 7.  Paco Lopez will return to ride the daughter of Take Charge Indy.

The only two-time winner entered in the race is Danny Limongelli’s Contrarity.  In her most recent outing, the Florida-bred trained by Hugh McMahon notched a 4-length score in a five furlong allowance at Delaware Park on July 12th.  Previously, the daughter of Yesbyjimminy finished unplaced in the $150,000 Astoria at Belmont Park on June 8th.  In her only other career outing, she posted a half-length victory in a four and a half furlong maiden at Laurel Park on April 29th.

“After her first couple of breezes, she showed us potential,” said trainer Hugh McMahon.  “After she broke her maiden, we entered her in the Astoria at Belmont Park because there were not any 2-year-old winner races going at the time.  In that race, she did not break well and she got dirt in her face for the first time.  She did not respond well to that.  In her next race, at Delaware, she broke on top, like her maiden win, and she ran well with another impressive victory.  We are a little concerned with her getting the one hole in the stake because I feel like if she gets dirt in her face again, she could do what she did before.  But if she gets on the lead, she gets brave and tough.”
