Training on the track where he will race Saturday, three-time Grade 1 winner Journalism had his last timed workout Sunday morning before his date in the $7 million Breeders’ Cup Classic.

The winner of the Santa Anita Derby, Preakness and Haskell worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 for trainer Michael McCarthy.

Eclipse Award winner Straight No Chaser, who seeks his second straight Breeders’ Cup Sprint victory, worked a half-mile in 49.0 seconds for trainer Dan Blacker at Santa Anita.

Eleven horses who were pre-entered for the Breeders’ Cup were among the 26 graded-stakes winners on the Sunday work tab across America.

Journalism (Curlin), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2025 Haskell, 2025 Preakness, 2025 Santa Anita Derby), worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Del Mar on Sunday. It was the fourth fastest of five works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita.
