TVG, America’s Horseracing Network, will again be the exclusive broadcast network of the 2012 Del Mar race meet, offering live, on-site coverage beginning Wednesday. Del Mar, the seaside track located just north of San Diego, will present a 37-day meet concluding September 5.

The 2012 meet will mark the debut of a new partnership between TVG and Del Mar as the network begins producing the venue’s simulcast and on-track broadcast for the first time.

Additionally, for the third consecutive year, TVG will serve as title sponsor of Del Mar’s signature event, the $1 Million TVG Pacific Classic. The August 26 Grade I contest is the only non-Breeders’ Cup event on the 2012 California Thoroughbred racing calendar offering a million dollar purse.

“Although TVG has been Del Mar’s exclusive broadcast provider for over a decade, this year marks an expansion of our partnership as we add the production of the track’s simulcast and on-track broadcasts to our plate,” said Tony Allevato, TVG executive vice president. “As in the past, we remain excited to have the opportunity to deliver all the action that is unique to Del Mar to our viewers.”

We’re pleased TVG is continuing their sponsorship of our premier race, the TVG Pacific Classic. Their support helps ensure the $1 million purse level, the only one of its kind for older horses in California,” said Josh Rubinstein, Del Mar’s senior vice president, development. “Over the years TVG has been a significant contributor to our success and we are delighted that our partnership continues to grow.”

The 2012 Del Mar meet offers racing Wednesdays through Sundays and on Labor Day. In addition to the $1 Million TVG Pacific Classic, the meet will feature six other Grade I races – the Eddie Read Stakes, the Bing Crosby Stakes, the Clement L. Hirsch Stakes, the Del Mar Oaks, the Del Mar Debutante and the Del Mar Futurity. There also will be nine Grade II races and three Grade III contests.
