Sycamore Stakes fair odds: Tawny Port has aged well

Weekday graded stakes are good for the soul, and the Grade 3 Sycamore Stakes on Friday at Keeneland could be good for the wallet as well. I see Tawny Port as the most likely winner, but he is the third choice on Nick Tammaro's morning line.

I don't envy Tammaro's job here, as his top three choices are clearly in the mix as well, with Ohana Honor a front-end threat and Highway Robber and Bold Act both likely running late.

Given Bold Act's connections, Charlie Appleby training for owner-breeder Godolphin, I don't expect him to offer any value here.

Ohana Honor might, but the track profile is against him based on the Horse Racing Nation Track Trends Tool.

That brings us back to Tawny Port, whom I'm hoping will have the right price as bettors navigate away from his eight-race losing streak. All three of his most recent efforts were strong, and he is capable of winning this with the right trip under Irad Ortiz Jr.

Highway Robber will be another running late, and if there were head-to-head wagering against fellow closer Bold Act, I'd take the longer price on Highway Robber. But I think Tawny Report can best him this time.
