Switch Works for Breeders' Cup

C R K Stable’s Switch, runner-up in last year’s Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1), worked this morning for the first time since she was third in the Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) on October 8. After that race, trainer John Sadler returned to his Southern California base and left the 4-year-old Quiet American filly at Keeneland with trainer Mike Stidham.

“She’s going to leave tomorrow for Churchill, but (Sadler) wanted to get a work in here because she’s really training good on the track here,” Stidham said about Switch.

Ridden by Stidham’s assistant, Hillary Pridham, Switch breezed four furlongs in :47.40 and galloped out in 1:01.

Another Breeders’ Cup horse working on Wednesday was Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s Pleasant Prince, who is expected in the Breeders’ Cup Marathon (G2). The 4-year-old Indy King colt worked six furlongs in 1:13.20.

Trainer Wesley Ward said Pleasant Prince and his Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G2) hopefuls, Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) winner Holiday for Kitten and Great Attack would remain at Keeneland through the Fall Meeting. Holiday for Kitten, a homebred racing for the Ramseys, and Great Attack, owned by Houyhnhnm Stable, are expected to work on the Keeneland turf course on Thursday.
