After a last-place finish this month at Santa Anita in a Grade 3 race, Sweet Azteca will not be pre-entered into the Nov. 2 running of the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint at Del Mar.

Trainer Michael McCarthy confirmed the Daily Racing Form report that quoted him as saying Sweet Azteca has “been quiet for the last five or six days.”

Sweet Azteca was best-priced in Europe at 4-1 in futures betting for the Filly & Mare Sprint with Ways and Means the 7-2 favorite, according to Oddschecker.

Pam Ziebarth’s Kentucky homebred had her four-race winning streak snapped when she weakened to fourth place among the four starters as the 1-9 favorite Oct. 5 in the 6 1/2-furlong Chillingworth Stakes.

Sweet Azteca, a 4-year-old filly by Sharp Azteca, built her past performances on victories this year in the Beholder Mile (G1) at Santa Anita, the 6 1/2-furlong Great Lady M (G2) at Los Alamitos and the 6 1/2-furlong Rancho Bernardo Handicap (G3) at Del Mar. She owns a 7: 5-0-1 record with $487,200 in earnings.

DRF said there were no plans yet for Sweet Azteca’s immediate future.
