Super Screener weekend preview: Big price in Count Fleet
What this weekend's stakes schedule lacks in volume, Mike Shutty's Super Screener hopes to make up in mutuel payout thanks to a longshot among the "top win contenders" for the Grade 3 Count Fleet Stakes on Saturday at Oaklawn.
An early version of Super Screener for the Kentucky Derby is already available, so buying this week gets you not only stakes action from Keeneland and Oaklawn but also the Kentucky Derby race.
The Count Fleet received a playability score of 8 (out of 10), indicating "high payoff potential" and that makes sense when you consider Happy Is a Choice is 20-1 on the morning line while occupying spots among "most reliable board hitter" and "top long shots" categories to go with the aforementioned "top win contenders."
"The pace projects to apply heavy pressure to likely odds-on favorite Skelly, who Super Screener expects to be vulnerable here following a second-place finish in Saudi Arabia," Shutty says. "If there is a time to beat him, this would be it...we want no part of him at even money or less.
"With all that pressure, Super Screener landed on Happy Is a Choice projecting to sit an ideal off-the-pace trip. He missed all of 2023, but the 2024 debut indicated a move forward, and while this is a step forward class wise, form-cycle analysis anticipates another move forward and potential winner at a big price."
All races in Super Screener include graded selections, analysis and wagering strategy. With Skelly an underlay in the win pool based on Shutty's handicapping, there is home run potential with Super Screener's Count Fleet plays.
