Super Screener preview: Find prices in the Prairie Bayou

As the 2023 racing season winds down, Mike Shutty hopes to keep the good times rolling with picks, analysis and wagering strategy for a sextet of races Friday-Saturday at four different racetracks.

Super Screener connected for $1,000 in mutuel payouts in last week's sheet, and there could be even bigger opportunities this week, as Shutty is against the clear choice in the Prairie Bayou Stakes on Saturday night at Turfway Park.

Wolfie's Dynaghost figures to be the big favorite in the 12-horse field, but Shutty is dubious on the chalk's ability to get a favorable trip.

"The pace will be sizzling with a lot of pressure," Shutty says. "The Tapeta surface has favored off-the-pace types in the opening weeks of the meeting."

That led him to no. 5 Hush of a Storm, a 12-1 morning line choice who factors as one of two top win contenders and is Super Screener's most reliable board hitter.

"The hot pace couldn't set up any better for him," Shutty says. "He offers great value and is one to consider using up and down in your vertical wagers."

Shutty also sees value in no. 1 Like the King, who has a two-turn stakes win over this track. At 10-1 morning line he could offer value in his third start off the layoff.
