Super Screener: Prices kick off Fair Grounds graded action

The Grade 2 New Orleans Classic is a key race in many multi-race wagers on Saturday, and Mike Shutty's Super Screener has targeted it as having "high payoff potential" because the two favorites could duel themselves into submission.

The New Orleans Classic is the ninth race at Fair Grounds and one of seven graded stakes Shutty covers in this week's Super Screener. Subscribe now and get every week now through the Kentucky Derby for just $77!

The Classic is part of an all-graded stakes Pick 4 that Super Screener covers. It's also the first leg of the Bayou-Bluegrass Pick 5, and four of those five races are included in this week's Screener as well.

Anyway, back to the Classic, where a spirited pace that Screener projects as two points faster than par could set things up for a pair of double-digit odds on the morning line.

"This race sets up really well for horses that will sit 3-4 lengths off all the early heat," Shutty writes. "One such runner fitting that description is the Super Screener Top Win, Top Board Hitter and Top Long Shot pick Super Corinto.

"He is very balanced in the way he distributes his energy, which bodes well for a go at 9 furlongs. He projects to sit an excellent trip just three lengths off the pace with a lot of speed coming back to him over that final furlong while getting first jump on all the deep closers. The presence of jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. makes this selection all the more intriguing."

Each race in Super Screener includes the aforementioned designations as well as analysis and wagering strategy. Super Corinito is the clear top choice in the Classic, but Velocitor at 10-1 morning line also inspired Shutty's keystrokes.

"He projects to sit a similarly advantaged off-the-pace trip as Super Corinto with plenty of late-race energy to dispense, so we'll likely have two double-digit odds horses being a factor for the exotics as they approach the wire.

"(The New Orleans Classic is the) best wagering opportunity of the day."
