As for Saturday, Mike Shutty looks at a quartet of stakes. His analysis of the Lure Stakes at Santa Anita stands out thanks to Sumter achieving top-win and top-value designations at an 8-1 morning-line price.

"We have already seen this horse's best races but anything close to those prior tops will get the job down in the easiest field he has faced since winning this race last year," Shutty said. "He'll be positioned mid-pack and leveraging that balanced energy-distribution profile along with a decent turn of foot with much of the early speed coming back to him while getting the jump on deeper closers."

Nesso's Lastharrah also caught Shutty's eye and figures prominently in the wagering strategy for the race. One component to that strategy is tossing Goliath, who should ensure a spirited pace that will help set things up for the top pick.
