Super Screener: Bet a baker's dozen, including 3 Derby preps

One week after calling Wet Paint one of his best win plays of the weekend as well as identifying Confidence Game as a top longshot in the Rebel, Mike Shutty's Super Screener returns with a 13-race slate covering a trio of Kentucky Derby prep races as well as 10 other stakes at both Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park.

With champion Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Forte making his three-year-old debut likely at a short price in the Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream and uncertainty surrounding participation and weather in the Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct, Shutty is most focused on a price play in the San Felipe (G2) at Santa Anita.

"We are treated to an unusually large field of runners in the San Felipe," Shutty said. "The pace promises to be faster than par with adequate pressure. It will be led by No. 7 Hejazi while stablemate No. 2 National Treasure and the Richard Mandella-trained No. 8 Geaux Rocket Ride serving as primary pressers.

"With just nine weeks to go until the Kentucky Derby, you really want a win contender to have shown some success going two turns, and fortunately, most of the horses in the field meet that criterion. You also want to see steady progression in their form cycle with no more than three starts since their debut or their last layoff.

"Geaux Rocket Ride should sit an excellent, comfortable pressing trip reserving plenty of energy to dispense over the critical final furlong."
