Super Screener: Why Ransom the Moon can win Bing Crosby again

A great renewal of the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes, headlined by last year’s Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner, Roy H, is set for Saturday. The champ who returns to racing action after the four-month layoff -- he last ran in Dubai -- and connections report the 6-year-old by More Than Ready will be quite fresh.

That means Hall of Fame jockey Kent Desormeaux will have to try to save some of that energy for the final furlong and, hopefully, Roy H won’t fight him along the way. He is an obvious win contender here against a good field but offers no value.

Horse Racing Nation's Super Screener handicapping system will play another horse on top along with Roy H, expecting a bottom of the exacta finish more probable right off the break.

Inspiration for our Super Screener Stakes Weekly
analysis came from our loyal Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Super customers. They have often asked us for a product focused on analyzing the key graded stakes that run each weekend throughout the year.

What's offered here is a small sample of the full product, in which we've also handicapped the Grade 1 Haskell, Grade 2 Jim Dandy and other top races coast to coast.

As for more on the Bing Crosby...

Always in search of value, the Super Screener has landed on Ransom the Moon as the Top Value and Top Win pick. He took this race last year amidst some the best racing of his career.

Roy H was too much for him to handle last fall when that foe was at his absolute peak form-wise, but Ransom the Moon may have the conditioning edge now. Works are super impressive, and he is coming off a Met Mile performance is so much better than it looks on paper. That race turned into a two-furlong sprint, and he was just outpaced after being wide throughout and sitting too far back early on against a very tough field.

Ransom the Moon needed that race prior, the Grade 2 Kona Gold, and actually looked the best but once again a soft pace did not help him. Think about this: In his last 10 starts, the Phil D'Amato trainee has been a part of pace set ups that were below par. He finally gets some pace and pressure to set up that late kick on a track surface that is favoring those types right now.

Along with analysis on the rest of the Bing Crosby field of 11, the Super Screener offers suggested exacta, trifecta and superfecta tickets to play involving Roy H and Ransom the Moon. Get the Super Screener advantage with your wagering!
