Super Screener: Fair Grounds offers a value opportunity

Super Screener expects no. 10 He's Late Again to arrive right on time in the Jacob V. Morreale Memorial Stakes on Saturday at Fair Grounds.

After three consecutive stakes wins against Louisiana-breds, He's Late Again tried open company in the Super Derby and faded to last after chasing a fast pace. Those were deep waters for his first try at 1 1/8 miles, and trainer Allen Landry understandably gave Larry Romero's Aurelius Maximus gelding a freshening off that.

Now He's Late Again returns in the one-mile, 70-yard Morreale Memorial, and the field of 11 should ensure good value. Landry has solid numbers with these types of layoffs, winning 20% with a +4% ROI.

"He's Late Again has been away now for more than 75 days but has been training steadily," Mike Shutty said. "He benefits now on the cut back both in distance and class, and I'm liking the pattern of a forward move in each of his route starts. And form-cycle analysis is indicating yet another modest advancement here, which is all that would be needed to take down this heat."

This week's Super Screener includes all three stakes from Fair Grounds as well as a pair of Grade 3 tilts, the Commonwealth Turf at Churchill Downs and the Native Dancer at Del Mar.
