Super Screener: Rebound Brown runner the Man o' War pick
Turf marathoners return to Belmont Park on Saturday in the Grade 1 Man o’ War after campaigning primarily at Gulfstream Park and Aqueduct this winter. They now contest the 1 3/8 miles on the inner turf course with those sweeping turns that some horses prefer and others do not.
Horse Racing Nation's Super Screener handicapping system projects a 9-2 morning line shot on top.
What's offered here -- for free -- is only a small sample of the full product now available. This weekend's edition also covers other top stakes around the country.
Now, for that Man o' War analysis...
It is clear that One Go All Go will once again lead the field through at least the first half of the race as he did in his last three races. This in one of those horses that would be advantaged by turf course with tighter turns and/or ultra firm conditions. He doesn’t really get either here.
Also, note that he bled through his administered Lasix in that last race…not the best of signs. He will get pushed a bit more by the longshot Catcho En Die, who will show some of that speed on the stretch out from his middle distance turf routes. Also, both Hi Happy and Bigger Picture will be in closer attendance, so a modest-but-not-glacial pace is expected.
Call Provision, one of three in here for trainer Chad Brown enters off a better-than-it looked fourth-place finish in his 2018 debut after the long layoff. They walked up front courtesy of One Go All Go, and he had no chance. He moves forward in a big way here second off the layoff and drops back a quarter mile to his wheelhouse distance.
Going 1 3/8 miles, Call Provision is 5-for-5 in the Exacta and performs best over Belmont's turf course. He's a solid win contender at fair price.
