Super Screener: Long shot starts Haskell all-stakes Pick 4
Rating the Wolf Hill Stakes on Saturday at Monmouth Park an eight out of ten by playability, Super Screener has high hopes for the race that kicks off the all-stakes Pick 4 ending with the Haskell Stakes.
These all-stakes multi-race wagers on big days have a reputation for being chalky, but with that high playability score the Wolf Hill for older males sprinting on the turf could spice things up for vertical and horizontal bettors alike.
Super Screener not only sees the Wolf Hill favorites as vulnerable but also a couple long shots as likely winners thanks in part to morning-line second choice Nothing Better projecting to be overly involved in an early pace battle.
"In a rare departure from requiring prior turf sprinting success, the Super Screener lands on Super Chow as the Top Win Pick in this race," writes Michael Shutty. "He has trained well on turf and was entered in a turf stakes last month that was taken off the turf. Form-cycle analysis points to a continued progression in his third start off the layoff. He offers value to take to the turf."
The other Top Win Contender is Ruse, a 20-1 morning line entrant who also is the Most Reliable Board Hitter. Shutty notes his running style was not suited to the Gulfstream Park turf, darkening his form and making him a playable price here.
"It comes down to just how many horses Ruse will pass," Shutty writes. "The risk/reward value proposition is highly favorable, however."
Each race in Super Screener includes selections, analysis and wagering strategy. The Wolf Hill strategy goes for the big payout with both long shots factoring prominently in all wagers. There also is a Pick 4 grid with Super Screener's strategy for the Haskell pick 4 that also includes the Molly Pitcher (G3) and United Nations (G2).
