Super Screener: Analyze It or Catholic Boy in Pennine Ridge?
In what often serves as a prep for the Belmont Derby later this summer on turf, the Pennine Ridge (G3) came up huge given its grade with unbeaten Analyze It to square off with Catholic Boy in his return to the lawn.
And it's that larger prize, the July 7 Belmont Derby, that could influence the outcome of Saturday's race, according to Horse Racing Nation's Super Screener handicapping system.
"Super Screener sees him finishing third or fourth in this race, which will be a good stepping stone into the ultimate goal."
The Pennine Ridge is one of four events covered by the latest Super Screener Stakes Weekly, an analysis that came from our loyal Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Super customers. They have often asked us for a product focused on analyzing the key graded stakes that run each weekend throughout the year.
What's offered here -- for free -- is only a small sample of the complete product now available. Full-field guides and suggested wagers for the Penn Mile (G2), Penn Ladies Dash and Pennsylvania Governor's Cup Stakes are also included.
As for the Pennine Ridge, Shutty is going with the odds-on favorite and including a 7-2 shot underneath.
"This year’s renewal of this race is quite salty with Chad Brown’s undefeated Analyze It coming up as the deserved odds-on favorite," Shutty said. "He’ll be especially tough to take down here, as he will likely control the pace taking the field through modest fractions and then just bursting away as he did two races back.
"Hawkish will press Analyze It, and he has the best shot at a mild upset off that last very good looking race at Aqueduct. The added ground should pose no problem for either foe."
The Super Screener also seeks to "screen" out contenders, such as Untamed Domain, a graded stakes winner Shutty doesn't imagine will hit the board. How about the rest in a field of eight?
