Super Screener: A value play in the Bayakoa
The latest edition of Super Screener, the data-driven handicapping method developed by author Mike Shutty, offers in-depth analysis and wagering strategies for all the weekend’s major stakes action from around the country.
The Super Screener lineup includes the Suncoast and Sam F. Davis (G3) from Tampa Bay Downs; the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint (G3); El Camino Real Derby from Golden Gate; Sweet Life (G3) from Santa Anita; and both the Razorback (G3) and Bayakoa (G3) from Oaklawn Park.
In the $250,000 Bayakoa, a field of seven older fillies and mares is set to go 1 1/16 miles led by 5-2 morning-line favorite Coach. Super Screener sees Coach as offering little value at that price.
“Viable win contender, but given she is likely to be the favorite, the risk/reward value proposition is not attractive,” Super Screener notes.
A more attractive alternative looks to be Mariah’s Princess, who is 5-1 on the morning line. The lightly raced 4-year-old fits with this group and figures to be overlooked given the presence of both Coach and Matera, the 3-1 second choice, for trainer Brad Cox.
“Form cycle analysis predicts a move forward now to a lifetime top that will land somewhere between a BRIS Speed Rating of 98 to 100,” Super Screener notes. “Very strong win contender that will provide some value.”
