Super Screener: After 8 wins last week, 11 stakes are on menu

There's never been a better time to be a Super Screener subscriber.

Last week's report included eight top-pick winners with three of those also getting the top value-pick designation: Ushba Tersoro paying $28.30 in the Dubai World Cup (G1), Derma Sotogake $14.50 in the UAE Derby (G2) and Kingsbarns $11.20 in the Louisiana Derby (G2). Throw in top pick Two Phil's at $7.64 in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3), and Super Screener swept the Kentucky Derby preps.

Over the past 12 weeks, the top win pick has come through 31 times for a flat-bet profit of plus 19 percent.

So what does Mike Shutty have up his sleeve for this week's Super Screener? Well, of course, he has looked at both the Arkansas and Florida derbies, but one pick he is excited about is in the Sanibel Island Stakes on the Florida Derby undercard at Gulfstream Park.

"There are 10 fillies that will tackle this tricky 7 1/2-furlong distance that - with the short run to the first turn and a typically fast early pace - favors closer types drawn to the inside," Shutty writes. "The Super Screener has landed on No. 1 Mrs. Astor as a very strong win contender pick that could provide some value as Todd Pletcher and Christophe Clement runners are likely to draw more wagering interest.

"Mrs. Astor plays right into this configuration perfectly being on the rail and with that decidedly late energy distribution profile. In addition, form-cycle analysis is screaming a big move forward here as she continues that progression and benefits from making just her third start since October. The Jonathan Thomas barn produces well with last-out maiden winners returning off a moderate layoff. Given the expected slow pace, she’ll be closer here just two lengths off the pace in a bunched up field but that will lower the chances she’ll somehow have to wait or get shuffled back with that rail trip. All signals are green for this Lookin At Lucky filly."
