Sunday's 9th race from Santa Anita Park (10-29-17) is the Grade 3 Autumn Miss Stakes for 3-year-old fillies traveling one mile on the turf course.
#2 MISS SOUTHERN MISS (6-1) finished 5th of 12 from post 11 in the Unzip
Me on the downhill course Sept 30 (126 Today's Racing Digest Final Rating) and she somehow ended up
the favorite off a 7+ month layoff that day. She was likely out for the
exercise last out and her lone flat mile turf start was a sharp local
win in the Surfer Girl last fall (129 Final Rating, last fraction 23.9).
#1
Kathy’s Song (15-1) ran out of ground in the Unzip Me and she is a turf
router all the way (8-3-3-0 in turf routes). She looked good beating
older optional claimers in a Del Mar turf route Sept 4
(128 Final Rating, last fraction 23.7) and a ground saving stalking trip under
new rider Tyler Baze is expected.
#4 Tapped (6-1) is the second Richard Baltas runner
and she added blinkers and closed to just miss in the Unzip Me last
time (134 Final Rating). The versatile filly handles two turns.
#10 Reverse
(15-1) moves to the Richard Baltas barn and she earned a 137 Final Rating (last
fraction 22.9) in a rallying show finish in the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Aug 27.
She might surprise under Drayden Van Dyke.
#5 Chocolate Coated (12-1) looked
good winning an entry level downhill sprint Oct 6 (134 Final Rating) and she
graduated in a flat mile dirt race Aug 3.
#11 Lull (7-2) stretches back out for Christophe Clement, lands an outer post, and
is 0-for-3 at this distance. Her last two turf sprints were solid (134,
147 Final Ratings) and she set the pace and held the place in the G2 San
Clemente at this distance July 23 (141 Final Rating). Flavien Prat takes the call.
THE PLAYS: #2 to win/place
