Sunday’s 6th race from Santa Anita Park (4-22-18) is the Grade 3, $100,000 San Juan Capistrano Stakes for 3-year-olds and up traveling a mile and three-quarters on the turf course.
#4 LAZZAM (5-1) is a sharp, consistent late running gelding. Corey Nakatani (3-for-3 w/Victor Garcia) was aboard for both of his local turf wins at nine furlongs, and he should be plugging away late.
#2 Nessy (6-5) is a solid long distance turf performer for Ian Wilkes, and Mike Smith hops aboard the fresh late runner. He is 2-for-20 with twelve minor awards and will not offer any value on top.
#7 Rye (3-1) reconnects with winning rider Kent Desormeaux, and he was aboard for his last three Southern California turf route wins.
#3 Evo Campo (4-1) is a long distance turf specialist for Neil Drysdale. She won the Grade 3 Santa Barbara at Santa Anita last April.
THE PLAYS:
#4 to win
Exacta 3-4-7/2
Trifecta 3-4-7/ALL/2
