Sunday works: Spice Runner leads graded winners on tab
Spice Runner drilled at Churchill Downs on Sunday ahead of his expected start in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club.
The son of Gun Runner came home fifth in the Breeders' Futurity (G1) at Keeneland last time out.
The 2-year-old breezed four furlongs in 48.8 seconds, 24th fastest of 91 at the distance. This marked his second timed work since placing fifth in the Breeders' Futurity (G1).
Spice Runner captured the Iroquois (G3) at Churchill Downs on Sept. 13 to kick off his Kentucky Derby 2026 campaign earning a 76 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form. Before that, he settled for second in the Ellis Park Juvenile on Aug. 10 and broke his maiden on May 23 under the twin spires.
