Eclipse Award winner Sierra Leone, who has been away from racing since a disappointing defeat in March, breezed again Sunday morning as he works toward a possible return next month at Churchill Downs.

The winner of the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar and the top 3-year-old male of 2024 worked a half-mile in 48.8 seconds on the Belmont Park training track. It was his eighth consecutive weekly drill since he finished third in the Grade 2 New Orleans Classic on March 22.

Although trainer Chad Brown has made a firm commitment publicly, the Stephen Foster (G1) on June 28 has been mentioned as a possible next race for Sierra Leone.
