Sunday works: Magnitude leads graded winners on tab

Magnitude breezed five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Churchill Downs on Sunday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 21 works at the distance. The was his sixth work since running in the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby.

Magnitude won the Risen Star (G2) at Fair Grounds on Feb. 15. He placed third in the Travers (G1) at Saratoga on Aug. 23. The 3-year-old son of Not This Time came home second in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at Parx on Sept. 20, posting a 102 Beyer Speed Figure, according to Daily Racing Form.

Magnitude, trained by Steve Asmussen, has a career record of 10: 4-2-1 with earnings of $931,165 for owner Winchell Thoroughbreds.

This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he won an allowance race going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Remington Park on Nov. 6 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
