Sunday works: Balladeer preps for Shoemaker Mile

Balladeer, the Grade 2 John Henry Turf Championship winner who most recently placed fifth in the Charles Whittingham (G2), breezed five furlongs in 1:00.8 at Santa Anita on Sunday morning. It was the 11th fastest of 51 works at the distance.

The 7-year-old son of Distorted Humor is trained by George Papaprodromou.

Balladeer is expected to make his next start in the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile next Monday at Santa Anita. He has a career record of 38: 4-3-4 with earnings of $537,550 for owners Calvin Nguyen and Joey Tran.
