Sunday works: 27 graded-stakes winners are on the tab
Angel of Empire continued on the comeback trail, breezing five furlongs in 1:01.6 Sunday morning at Fair Grounds.
The 4-year-old son of Classic Empire hasn't raced since finishing third in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy in July, with his connections saying they would give him time off.
Trained by Brad Cox, he won the Risen Star (G2) and Arkansas Derby (G1) before finishing third in the Kentucky Derby and fourth in the Belmont ahead of his Jim Dandy Start.
He returned to training on Feb. 9 and has breezed three times before Sunday's drill, the first at five furlongs.
