White Abarrio tuned up for his last race of 2024 with a bullet workout over the very track where he will start Saturday.
The 2023 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner drilled three furlongs in 35.41 seconds, the fastest of 21 breezes at that distance Sunday morning at Gulfstream Park. Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., he galloped out a half-mile in 48.10 seconds, according to Daily Racing Form. White Abarrio is entered to race against 11 rivals in the seven furlong, Grade 3 Mr. Prospector Stakes.

On a busy training session at Santa Anita, Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan was clocked going three furlongs in 37.4 seconds ahead of his much-anticipated start Thursday in the seven-furlong Malibu (G1).
Mystik Dan, who hit the track at about 7:45 a.m. PST, was backed up to the seven-eighths pole before breaking into a gallop. He sped things up near the quarter pole, where he found company from a pair of horses to his inside, then continued to accelerate through the lane.
Raging Torrent, working for Doug O’Neill, also drilled for the Malibu, going four furlongs in 48.2 seconds.
Straight No Chaser returned to the work tab with a three-furlong move in 35.8 seconds. It was the second-fastest of 25 works at the distance. Trained by Dan Blacker, Straight No Chaser won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint by a half-length Nov. 2 at Del Mar and is expected to come back Feb. 22 in the Riyadh Dirt Sprint (G2) in Saudi Arabia.
Promising 2-year-old colt Barnes, a debut winner at Churchill Downs on Nov. 27 for trainer Bob Baffert, worked six furlongs from the gate in 1:12.8.
Grade 2-winning sprinter Sprit of Makena, sidelined since Sept. 23, worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds for trainer George Papaprodromou. It was his third work on the comeback trail. Before the layoff Spirit of Makena won last year’s Triple Bend (G2) and San Carlos (G3) at Santa Anita.
Pacific Classic (G1) winner Mixto worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds for O’Neill. He most recently was third in the Native Diver (G3) at Del Mar on Nov. 23.
