Sunday tab: Letruska fires bullet; 30 other graded winners work

In her three-length victory Feb. 26 in the Grade 3 Royal Delta Stakes at Gulfstream Park, Letruska was put through the motions of what essentially was a paid workout.

On Sunday morning she was back at it in a bona fide workout. The champion older dirt female was clocked at 47.7 seconds, the fastest half-mile breeze of the 38 that were clocked at Palm Meadows in Florida.

Trainer Fausto Gutiérrez said after the Royal Delta that the 6-year-old Super Saver mare would be aimed for repeat victory in the Apple Blossom Handicap (G1) on April 23 at Oaklawn.

Letruska was one of at least 31 graded-stakes winners who worked in North America on Sunday.

Letruska (Super Saver), a four-time Grade 1 winner, worked four furlongs in 47.7 seconds at Palm Meadows on Sunday morning. It was the fastest of 38 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Royal Delta (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 26 for trainer Fausto Gutiérrez.

Malathaat (Curlin), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2021 Alabama, 2021 Kentucky Oaks, 2021 Ashland), worked four furlongs in 49.5 seconds at Palm Beach Downs on Sunday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 18 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In her last start she placed third in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 6 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Roadster (Quality Road), a Grade 1 winner (2019 Santa Anita Derby), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the fastest of 37 works at the distance. His previous work was 13 days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed third in the Polynesian going one mile on the main track at Laurel Park on Sept. 18 for trainer Michael Stidham.

Point Me By (Point of Entry), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Bruce D.), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the 18th fastest of 106 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds.
