Sunday tab: 2 Clark starters lead 17 graded-stakes winners

West Will Power and Fulsome worked in company at Churchill Downs for trainer Brad Cox on Sunday morning ahead of their expected start in Friday's Grade 1 Clark Stakes.

Each was clocked at 50.6 seconds for the half-mile on the fast main track.

"Both are doing good," Cox said. "They had a good breeze this morning, nice and easy."

The stablemates finished 1-2 last out in the Fayette (G2) at Keeneland. West Will Power enjoyed a loose lead in his gate-to-wire victory by 6 3/4 lengths.

The two Cox horses were among 17 graded-stakes winners who were on Sunday's work tabs across North America.

West Will Power (Bernardini), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Fayette), worked four furlongs in 50.6 at Churchill Downs on Sunday morning. It was the 18th fastest of 23 works at the distance. Fulsome (Into Mischief), a four-time Grade 3 winner, worked four furlongs in 50.6 at Churchill Downs on Sunday morning. It was the 18th fastest of 23 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed second in the Fayette (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 29 for Cox.

Ready to Purrform (Kitten's Joy), a Grade 2 winner (2022 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame), worked four furlongs in 49.4 at Churchill Downs on Sunday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 23 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed 10th in the Bryan Station (G3) going 1 mile on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 29 for trainer Brad Cox.

Kathleen O. (Upstart), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 Gulfstream Park Oaks 2022, Davona Dale), worked four furlongs in 48.0 at Belmont Park on Sunday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 123 works at the distance. Her previous work was six days ago going three furlongs at Belmont Park. In her last start she placed fifth in the Kentucky Oaks going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 6 for trainer Shug McGaughey.

Midnight Stroll (Not This Time), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Delaware Oaks), worked three furlongs in 36.8 seconds at Belmont Park on Sunday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 18 works at the distance. This is her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed third in the Raven Run (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 22 for trainer John Terranova.

Hot Peppers (Khozan), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Victory Ride), worked four furlongs in 49.5 at Belmont Park on Sunday morning. It was the 52nd fastest of 123 works at the distance. Her previous work was 24 days ago going five furlongs at Keeneland. In her last start she placed fourth in the Prioress (G2) going 6 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Sept. 2 for trainer Rudy R. Rodriguez.
