Sunday’s 8th race from Santa Anita Park (4-29-18) is the Grade 3, $100,000 San Simeon Stakes for 3-year-olds and up dashing six and one-half furlongs on the downhill turf course.
#5 ISOTHERM (5-1) made a move and lost ground in the stretch in all three turf route starts this year. Last year’s Grade 2 San Marcos hero might finish full of run down the dip.
#1 Conquest Tsunami (8-5) went all the way in both of his downhill sprints this year, and is back in Southern California after a show finish in Dubai. He might be too fleet for these.
#6 Double Touch (12-1) turned back and rolled from the back of the pack in a nice optional claiming score down the hill Feb. 23. He might make the last run under Flavien Prat.
