Summer Revolution, who has won both of his career starts after a three-length victory against allowance company on Saturday, could be ready to make his stakes debut in the Grade 1, $1.25 million Travers or the Grade 1, $500,000 Ketel One King's Bishop, which are both on August 27. The 3-year-old son of Summer Bird, for trainer Rudy Rodriguez, said owner Jeff Drown has not made the decision.
"We're not too sure yet, I'll talk to the owners. But we'll take our time," Rodriguez said. "We want to give him the opportunity to be a nice horse. I don't want to say no and I don't want to say yes."
Summer Revolution broke his maiden on July 4 at Belmont Park before winning his Saratoga Race Course debut, earning a 104 Beyer Speed Figure in his first-level allowance win.
Rodriguez said Royal Posse came out of Sunday's 1 ¼-length victory in Sunday's $100,000 Alydar in good order. The 5-year-old gelding has four wins in six career starts at the Spa, including his first stakes victory in last year's Evan Shipman for New York-breds.
"He came out of it fine," Rodriguez added.
Literata and Jules N Rome are both possibilities for the $100,000 Saratoga Dew on August 15, Rodriguez said outside his barn on Monday morning. Owner Michael Dubb claimed Jules N Rome on July 27 and the 4-year-old gray filly could soon make her debut for Rodriguez in the 1 1/8-mile course on the main track for New York-breds.
