In the $150,000 Arcadia Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Saturday, Suggestive Boy overcame an unfavorable outer post to win by 2 ½ lengths under Joe Talamo.

"I was a little worried before the race being in the 13-hole," Talamo said. "Not too many horses win from out there, but he's such a classy horse to get over and save some ground."

Trained by 80-year-old Hall of Famer Ron McAnally, Suggestive Boy ran 1 mile on the turf in 1:32.73 and paid $10.40, $5.80 and $4.20.

“The post position today, I was a little worried about," said McAnally. "But he managed to get him over before the turn. That was all I was concerned about. Once he got him over, I was comfortable. He’s a good horse.”

The winning owner is Jose Cerillo of Lomas de Chapultepec, Mexico, who races as Pozo de Luna, Inc.

Wilkinson, also drawn toward the outside, rallied for the place and returned $8.40 and $5.40.

Gary Mandella's 4-1 favorite Silentio was third in the 13-horse field and paid $3.60 to show.

“He seems to be OK here in the test barn," said Mandella. "He took a funny step there at the three-eighths pole. You could see he was in position and lost two lengths very quickly. Maybe he found a soft spot, maybe it was from the rain, I’m not sure.

“After that, Rafael (Bejarano) wasn’t sure how hard to ride him or of he was OK and just took it easy.  He ended up with a lot to do once they turned for home and I have to be happy with how he finished with what happened.”
