Stubbins, St. Joe Bay highlight Thursday's graded stakes works

Stubbins had his first work back since a fourth-place finish in the Grade 1 Jaipur at Belmont Park. The Grade 2 winner traveled an easy 3 furlongs at San Luis Rey Training Center for trainer Doug O'Neill. Just down the way at Del Mar, old pro and recent allowance winner St. Joe Bay, put forth a solid 5 furlong drill for trainer John Sadler. Check out the list of graded stakes horses to work on Thursday:


St. Joe Bay
(Saint Anddan) a two time Grade 2 winner (2019 San Carlos, 2017 Palos Verdes) worked 5 furlongs in 1:00.8 at Del Mar on Thursday morning. It was the 7th fastest of 40 works at the distance. His previous work was 7 days ago going 4 furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he placed 1st in an allowance race going 7 furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on July 10.


Marckie's Water
(Tribal Rule) a Grade 2 winner (2019 Charles Whittingham) worked 3 furlongs in 36.8 at Del Mar on Thursday morning. It was the third fastest of 14 works at the distance. His previous work was 7 days ago going 3 furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he placed 7th in the Del Mar Handicap (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on August 17 for trainer Richard Baltas.

Lanier
(Lewis Michael) a Grade 3 winner (2019 Hanshin Cup) worked 4 furlongs in 49.7 at Penn National on Thursday morning. It was the 6th fastest of 9 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going 3 furlongs at Penn National. In his last start he placed 6th in the TwinSpires Kentucky Cup Classic going 1 1/8 miles on the synthetic at Turfway Park on March 14 for trainer Brett Santangelo.

Stubbins (Morning Line) a Grade 2 winner (2019 Woodford) worked 3 furlongs in 37.0 at San Luis Rey Training Center on Thursday morning. It was the fastest of 4 works at the distance. This is his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 4th in the Jaipur (G1) going 6 furlongs on the turf at Belmont Park on June 20 for trainer Doug O'Neill.
